The course has proven to be valuable to all boaters, from the fisherman in an outboard, to the skipper in a family cruiser, to the sailing enthusiast. Many insurance companies will offer discounted rates based upon the successful completion of this course.  Graduates earn a Wisconsin DNR safety certificate. Successful completion of this course will qualify graduates to join the Green Bay Sail & Power Squadron and begin taking their extensive selection of courses that are only available to their members (see Member Classes for details).  The only cost involved is for the course materials ($40.00 for Work Books and Charting Material, and $2.00 for each extra family member).

Boating Course content:

Registration, Boat Types, Terminology,  Marine Radio, Knots and Lines
Charts, Aids to Navigation and Plotting a Course
Boat Handling and Marine Compass
Government Regulations; Plotting, and Distance, Speed and Time Relationship
Navigation Rules, and Determining Position
Adverse Conditions, Trailering Your Boat and Personal Watercraft
Exam
